Curtains of the show, the innocents, finally opened highlighting some good local stage actors. And at the set of this show hangs a picture, the subject of countless strange stories and tales. Someone who chooses to be unknown had held on to this portrait for years. All of a sudden, as the lady was traversing the road, she stopped by a shop and mesmerized for some unknown reasons, she bought it.

How can I possibly afford this, she thought as she waited there for the clerk to take the photo from the window. She remembered that her kids needed to buy clothes, schools and supplies for school time was around the corner. In her mind, she was preparing to tell that clerk that she has changed her mind for she could not afford it even if it was breathtaking. I just can't afford it, but as the clerk in the antique shop turned to put the picture back in the window she said in a very loud voice, I do want the picture, I can't afford it, but I'm going to buy it.

A problem presented itself for her as she tried to figure how she would explain to her husband her compulsion at buying the photo, and after paying for it she hurried out of the antique store, still not being able to explain to herself how she got it even as she could not even afford it and neither had a need for it. This masterpiece was in oil and was created between the late 1800's or early 1900's, showcasing a Borzoi, a Russian wolfhound. The subject of the painting, a Russian wolfhound was depicted in a almost straight on pose, showing only its shoulders and head, and for the few who have been trained to be familiar with such a breed, they should be able to notice this absurdity, and not just gush about how nice or lovely the painting is. There is not even proper proportion between the chest and shoulders.

This makes the fact that she bought the picture even more strange as she was very familiar with the breed and knew what a Borzoi should look like. When her husband arrived home that evening to find the picture hanging on the wall there was not the blow up of overspending the needed money for a portrait of a dog, instead there was the same strange attraction that she had felt.

There has been quite so many photographers, both experts and newbies taking photos of this painting but there was never an instance that two similar shots of it came out. They could not decipher how it would be possible that the picture changes all the time for sometimes the dog picture would come out like it was three dimensional and then flat at some times, then there would be instances when it would be in full color then black and white all of a sudden, but the weirdest would be lights playing on its surface as well as some sort of silhouette that was shaped like a face, appearing on the right side of the Borzoi.

I certainly do not think that there is something strange about this portrait for we can just blame it on too much imagination and perhaps some kind of light reflections, shared the husband when he and his wife discussed the possibility of an entity accompanying the portrait they bought. A huge ceramic dish from the wall fell with a crash but surprisingly, it was not broken, neither were there any cracks on its delicate surface.

The owners of the portrait were approached by the producer director who heard about the painting and explained to them that his play was a story of the supernatural so they gladly agreed when he asked them if he could loan it for the set of his production, The Innocents. They insisted that something went with that picture, moving into their home on the day they bought it, and they believe that lending it for his stage play, the Innocents, might be able to shed some light on this mystery. They wish that this was true, at least.
